INDIA'S HISTORIC GABBA BREACH

2021 Border-Gavaskar series between India and Australia gave us a lifetime of memories and moments that can never be forgotten. A series where most of the star Indian players got injured and were out of the series (big guns like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Ravindra Jadeja were not playing).

The first test match resulted in a big shame loss for India when they were bowled out for just 36 in the second innings and lost the match by 10 wickets. A comeback can never be imagined in the wildest of the dreams that too when Virat Kohli flew to India for the birth of his first child.

Every cricket pundit predicted a whitewash for India but as we all know Indians unleash their true potential when the pride is on the line and Rahane and his men did the same. Even the grit and determination between R Ashwin and Hanuma Vihari to play 40+ overs to draw the Sydney test was remarkable. The series was leveled at 1-1 with the last match to be played at the Gabba where the Aussies have never been beaten since 1988. It was their fortress for sure.

All the excitement was focused on the last day when India needed 328 to win. Steady innings from Pujara and Gill made sure that India are on to a good start. Cheteshwar Pujara was the "WALL" for India. In his innings of 56 from 211 deliveries, he took several blows from the Aussie pace attack but didn't leave his ground helping other batters to play with freedom from the other end.

At 167-3, when skipper Rahane was dismissed Rishabh Rant walked ahead of Mayank Agarwal and the rest is history. Pant took on the Aussie pace and spin attack with a storm and this brought down the equation to India needing 69 in the last 15 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

At this very moment, the Aussies started to panic and the Indian batters cashed on it to make a historic run chase of 328 on the final session in Gabba with none other than Pant hitting the winning shot for India and this was surely a win for the ages.

A documentary named "BANDON ME THA DUM" will be released on 16 June 2022 on Voot Select. Directed by the one and only Mr. Neeraj Pandey.
